Strain Guard LLC ("Strain Guard," "we," "us," or "our") is a Michigan limited liability company headquartered in Battle Creek, Michigan. We operate the website at strainguard.com and sell cable strain relief products for RV and marine shore power connections. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle personal information about visitors to our website and customers who purchase our products.
2. What We Collect
Information you provide directly:
- Order information — name, shipping address, billing address, email address, phone number (if provided).
- Payment information — processed directly by Stripe. We never see or store your full card number. We receive a token and the last four digits.
- Email list signups — email address you provide via our signup form.
- Customer service correspondence — the content of emails you send us and any information you share to resolve an issue.
Information collected automatically:
- Analytics data — pages viewed, referral source, general geographic region (from IP address), browser and device type, session duration. Collected via Vercel Analytics and (if enabled) Google Analytics.

3. How We Use It
- To process, ship, and support your order.
- To send order confirmations, shipping notifications, and support responses.
- To send marketing emails, but only if you specifically signed up for them (and you can unsubscribe from any email with one click).
- To improve the website, our product, and our operations.
- To comply with legal obligations (tax reporting, fraud prevention, regulatory requests).
- To defend our legal rights when needed.
4. Who We Share It With
We don't sell your personal information to anyone. We share it only with the following categories of service providers, and only for the specific purposes below:

- Klaviyo — email delivery and list management. Governed by Klaviyo's privacy notice.
- Vercel — website hosting and analytics. Governed by Vercel's privacy policy.
- USPS / UPS / FedEx — shipping carriers who receive your name and shipping address to deliver your order.
- Google (Analytics), if enabled — anonymized traffic analytics. Governed by Google's privacy policy.
- QuickBooks — our accounting system. Order records used for tax and financial reporting.
- Government agencies — if legally required (subpoena, court order, tax authorities).
We do not participate in cross-context behavioral advertising as defined by the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA). We do not run retargeting or lookalike audience advertising as of the "Last updated" date above. If that changes, we will update this Policy and offer clear opt-out options.
5. How Long We Keep It
- Order records — 7 years, to comply with federal and Michigan tax record-keeping requirements.
- Email marketing list — until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete.
- Customer service correspondence — 3 years after the issue is resolved.
- Analytics data — aggregated and anonymized after 24 months; individual session records not retained.
6. Your Rights
Regardless of where you live, you have the right to:
- Ask what personal information we have about you.
- Ask us to correct inaccurate information.
- Ask us to delete your information (subject to legal retention requirements above).
- Unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time.

In addition to the above, California residents have the right to:
- Know the specific categories of personal information we've collected about you in the past 12 months and the purposes.
- Request deletion of your personal information.
- Opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information (we don't do either, but you have the right to confirm this).

- Correct inaccurate personal information.

European Union / UK residents (GDPR):
Our lawful bases for processing personal information are: (a) performance of a contract (fulfilling your order), (b) legitimate interests (improving our product and operations), (c) consent (marketing emails), and (d) legal obligation (tax and regulatory record-keeping). You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local Data Protection Authority.
How to exercise your rights:
Email privacy@strainguard.com from the email address associated with your account or order. We'll respond within 45 days (30 days for GDPR requests). If we need to verify your identity, we'll ask for order confirmation details or other reasonable verification.
7. How We Protect It
We use industry-standard security practices: encrypted transport (HTTPS/TLS) for all website traffic, encrypted payment processing through Stripe, access controls on our internal systems, and vendors who maintain SOC 2 or equivalent certifications. No system is perfectly secure, and we can't guarantee against every possible breach — but we take reasonable precautions and will notify you if a breach affecting your personal information occurs, in accordance with applicable law.
8. Children
Strain Guard is not intended for children under 16. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe we've inadvertently collected information from a child, email privacy@strainguard.com and we'll delete it.
9. International Transfers
We're based in the United States. If you access our website or purchase our products from outside the U.S., your information will be transferred to and processed in the U.S. U.S. data protection laws may differ from your home country's laws.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we'll update the "Last updated" date at the top and, for material changes, notify you by email (if we have your email address) or by prominent notice on the website.
